J.K. Rowling announced at Carnegie Hall that Albus Dumbdledore was gay.
Um... Why? Okay, is that supposed to do anything to the story?
In the case of Dumbledore, there is really no change to who he is or what he does or how he acts. We might be a little suspicious of his relationship with an adolescent boy named Harry, BUTT, what does it matter? I don't think it adds or takes away from the Harry Potter series.
J.K. Rowling was the author of the Harry Potter Series, but when she starts adding to her stories after the fact, I don't think it counts. Maybe it was the author's intent to make Dumbledore gay, but there's a reason why it wasn't mentioned anywhere in the books... Because it didn't add to or take away from the story enough to be mentioned. I'm sure if she ever had Dumbledore lean in and tell harry Potter that he was gay, the editor would have said... Um... This really doesn't do anything to the plot / story line. The reason why it's not in the story of Harry Potter is because Harry Potter is no longer owned by Rowling, I think it's owned by the words in the book.
Sure J.K. Rowling can say that Dumbledore is gay, but then I'd like to see her back it up with evidence from the books.
