Prop 8 Passed
So, What did we win?
So, now they can't call it "marriage"
So what's to stop them from calling it "gay marriage" or "lesbian marriage"? Shall we ban that too? Make it illegal?
Sure, we've won this battle but I think we may have lost the war.
America spent so much time focusing on winning the battle in Iraq and they never have found Bin Laden...

thats for your comment! i appreciate your support and wish there were more christians out there like you!
well, the war in Iraq wasn't about Bin Laden...since he was about a thousand miles to the east. haha... so that's that.
As for the whole gay marriage thing.. you gotta understand something, if domestic partnership gives all the benefits and what not of marriage, then why are they so eager to get marriage under their belt too? Simply, it's about "acceptance".
See, they try to make it sound like it's all nice and fair, but reality is, if you don't accept them as a married couple, then it's "illegal". This isn't about what's fair or human rights, nor is it about leaving them alone to live the lifestyle they wish to; it's about making people who don't accept their social lifestyle, to accept it. To force their beliefs on us; just like how they have always accused the religious churches of doing that to them. Ironic, isn't it?
How does this affect you? It may not. But for a church in Mass., it lost part of it's tax exempt status b/c the pastor of that church refused to let a lesbian couple from marrying on church property. The couple sued, and the church lost. Now you gotta ask yourself... why in the world would a gay couple wanna get married on church property? Or the professional photography in Arizona who's being currently sued for not wanting to take the pictures of a gay couple b/c of her religious views against it.
So it's not just about being fair or treating everyone the same; it's not enough that we've created special laws that create harsher punishments if the act of violence against them is based on their sexual orientation (aka "hate" crime); they ultimately want acceptance for their choices/lifestyles from people who don't believe in it.
Personally, if the majority of californian voters voted for gay marriage the last time this came up; i wouldn't have that big of a annoyance with it. The people voted. It would have been a law that was accepted by the majority. But when people voted against gay marriage and the few minority had a judge overturn that vote and made it into constitution that gay marriage was a right, i'm not too surprised Prop 8 passed.
Someday, I do believe gay marriage will become legalized in California. It's inevitable. And children will be taught to treat gay marriage the same as heteosexual ones, and parents won't have a say in it. B/c if gay marriage is legal, that is the stepping stone they'll use to launch their campaign of acceptance. No matter what the other side says, it's true; b/c the ultimate goal is acceptance. All these things are just stepping stones to that.
and what's wrong w/ wanting acceptance, really? we all long for acceptance ---
acceptance from the parents, acceptance from our peers, etc...
u can accept ppl for who they are... but not necessarily agree w/ them...
they didn't ask straight couples to become 'gay'... only acceptance... that they're valid too...
as christians - really - our job is not to judge, we leave the judging to God.
the problem i have with many christians are that they don't have a personal connection w/ anyone they're opposing. they don't try to reach out, they don't even associate w/ them. what kind of christians have we become? are we just suppose to "pray for them" and only associate w/ fellow christians? whatever happen to "outreach" and when did we only become obsessed with "inreach"?
maybe i'm just too "liberal" as a christian... or maybe we've lost track of what being christian is all about... what jesus would do? maybe it's silly of me, but i believe jesus wouldn't just hide behind "prayer" and just maybe even send his hand out to ppl and try to reach out to them. where's the hand of love we're suppose to give despite prior sins?
btw... just because a war is thousands of miles away, doesn't mean we can just dismiss it as an after thought. if we don't pay attention to what's going on there... how are u to combat anything if and when it comes here? u would have learned nothing and u will be worse off than we already are now. plus - we haven't found bin laden because we haven't even been following him. the focus over there hasn't been to look for bin laden for a long time now... it's to "fight terrorists"... it's not even about 'righting the wrong' done upon us anymore. it's about us as americans "forcing our ideals onto others" b/c "we're better"...
now if we were consistent --- about being against "forcing ideas onto others"... we'd hate ourselves as well.
